On June 8th, 2010 after a 2 year investigation by IMPD Crime Action Team Detectives, United States Department of Agriculture, ICE/Immigrations and Department of Revenue, authorities arrested 5 individuals and executed 11 search warrants which included 8 business locations.
The investigation involved organized criminal activity that included fraudulent food stamp transactions up to $10,000 each month.
The businesses involved were also acting as a fence operation, purchasing large quantities of stolen cigarettes and selling of large quantities of counterfeit merchandise that included clothing articles, hats and tennis shoes.
During the search police recovered over $100,000 in cash, suspected narcotics, sawed off shot gun, over a 1000 pieces of counterfeit merchandise and confiscated 2 vehicles.
